Dolbies were formed in 1979 by Peter Barnouw (guitar), Viktor Zeroccola (bass), Sloop John (keyboards), Nick Stevens (vocals) and Maks A. (drums) in Rotterdam. From the start the music was heavily influenced by bands such as the Doors, Japan, the Cars and even the Police. Six months, one record (Intensive Care E.P.) and several gigs later, the typical Dolbies style emerged : rhytmic, guitar driven power rock, with a twisted touch... The Dolbies territory expanded : performances in Berlin, Dordmund and Heidelberg followed... However, after a year and a half drummer Maks A. left the band, because of musical differences. He was follwed up by a series of drummers, but finally Jan Hartman was the one to stay. The Dolbies tried to gain ground in the dutch rock scene by making one demo after the other... Then keyboard player John left the band... The musical style changed... A more "poppy" rock style was their last effort to try to make a living out of their music... But after another year or so (1982) they decided to call it a day and split. In spring of 2005 Peter Barnouw, Viktor and Maks A. decided to take the dust of all the recordings they could get together, and remastered most of them... A cd will be made, initially for personal use and fun. After contacting singer Nick Stevens, the plan emerged to re-record some of those songs... Just to see if the Dolbies still got what it takes ! - and for the fun of it...
